To.................Dr. H. Tracy.Hall....................... Date Jan. .10,... 1.96.6 C327 ASB Room No. RE: PRIVATE WORK, RESEARCH SHOP You are authorized to go ahead with private work on a Research Shop bid basis as explained in your memo of January 7. You should explain to Fred that the bid should cover all costs without any favoritism to you. The financial transaction should be handled through an account set up in the Business Office. ECCrwb CC: Joseph T. Bentley "Earl C. Crockett CAMPUS MEMORANDUM ****** BRIGHAM YOUNG UNIVERSITY RE: PRIVATE WORK, RESEARCH SHOP I hereby request permission to have the Research Shop bid on construction and assembly of parts for a prototype cubic press that I wish to build with personal funds. The machine and assembly work involved would probably amount to about $5000. Additional components to go into the press, purchased from outside sources, would cost around $5000, The Research Shop needs the work. It is the only shop in Utah valley capable of doing it. For convenience sake, it would be the best place for me to have it done. It should be understood that no subsidy or favor from BYU is intended in this request. It is to be regarded strictly as a business proposition in which I pay the full costs. Of course, any bids on the work by our Research Shop would have to be acceptable to me and also to the University. If there is any doubt whatever as to the propriety of my having the work done here, I would have the work done elsewhere. Thank you for your consideration. From /.....H,.T, Hall...........
